  • Overview

    Direct a team in the creation, execution and stewardship of strategic media plans that are focused on creating awareness and driving box office for our client’s theatrical releases. While Strategy is media agnostic, most of this role will require a strong traditional planning background in TV, though a working understanding of digital is also essential for managing this team. The VP, is a key collaborator both internally and with members of the client team. Reporting to SVP, Client Director, the VP, will be responsible for leadership of the agency team and a key point of contact for clients.


    Strategic Development

    • Oversee and guide media recommendations focused on movie going behavior and an understanding of the unique theatrical category.
    • Continuously develop and improve procedures that will lead to more strategic/insightful plans and/or workflow improvements
    • Inspire teams to push boundaries and drive innovation and fresh thinking for our clients
    • Be proactive: Show interest in constantly learning as media evolves, and helping our clients to do the same



    • Work collaboratively with multiple groups both internally and externally (client and partner studios)
    • Manage day-to-day communication with key clients.
    • Ensure that multiple groups work seamlessly and provide content that informs and supports strategic direction


    Leadership & Mentor

    • Represent Canvas Worldwide professionally with clients and industry
    • Provide direction and leadership to two teams consisting of senior and junior levels experience.
    • Direct team and foster an environment for growth and learning
    • Support agency leadership with staff development, training and agency processes
    • Ensure that deadlines are met, including managing client expectations
    • Promote and open and supportive working environment where opinions, views, and ideas are welcome and shared
    • Ensure the team is informed of broader view of client needs and strategies
    • Willingness to get into the “weeds” with direct reports and clients to solve problems
    • Ultimately responsible for the delivery and accuracy of monthly budget issuance to finance


    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • 8-12 years of experience in Media Strategy or Planning, with at least 5 years theatrical experience
    • 10+ years mentoring and developing staff
    • Proven ability to drive projects from start to finish
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong presentation skills, ability to communicate to internal managers and clients
    • Possess a strong and proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with flexibility and communicate priorities to direct reports
    • High level proficiency and knowledge of Microsoft Office products as well as planning tools
    • Strong organizational and analytical skills
    • Excellent time management skills and ability to follow through
    • Extremely detail-oriented and precise
    • Proven ability to maintain strong internal, external, and client relationships
